2020 NBA Mock Draft: Big Questions For Next Season

Now that Zion Williamson and the rest of the 2019 class have been drafted into the NBA, it's time to shift our full attention to next year's crop of prospects. James Wiseman and Cole Anthony have stood out for the better part of three years in settings such as USA Basketball, the Nike EYBL, Basketball Without Borders camps and various FIBA events. That has given us a good starting point to begin to evaluate the 2020 class -- as well as 2021, which is already underway. We'll continue that process over the course of the summer, attending the FIBA Under-19 World Cup, plus the A and B divisions of the FIBA Europe junior championships, including the U16, U18 and U20 tournaments. We'll cap that off with the CP3 camp and USA Basketball minicamp in July, and the Nike Skills Academy in August. Be on the lookout for our first projection of the 2021 NBA draft in the fall. Here's what we know so far for 2020 and what we're watching most closely:

A Graphic Design Revolution For Scientific Conference Posters

Last week, NPR’s "All Things Considered" covered an unusual topic: Scientific conference posters. For the first time in decades, scientists are rethinking the traditional design of the posters they make to share their research at meetings. This sudden spotlight on what was always a mundane part of scientific discourse has launched a conversation about the need for basic art and design skills for scientists. A classic poster session at the 2014 conference of the American Geophysical Union (AGU). NASA Ames Scientific conferences are a lot like any other professional conference: A series of talks in hotel event centers, a marketplace of company booths, networking events. But there’s another aspect to scientific conferences. With more researchers hoping to share their research than there are presentation slots in the conference program, many scientists instead summarize their work on a poster.

Label Design Primer: 13 Tips to Help Your Product Get Noticed on Store Shelves Your product’s label is one of your last marketing opportunities. If it’s ineffective, that opportunity is wasted. “Your homepage is your marketing piece online, and your label is your marketing piece out in the world,” says Peter Renton, Founder, Lightning Labels, one of the oldest and largest digital label printers. “You’ve got about a half a second if people are just walking through the shelves. They need to be able to glance at it and see what the product is in a half second. What is it? And what flavor is it? What kind of product is it?” Renton sees scores of labels –not all of them effective. Here is his take on what makes a good label, a bad label and how to come up with an effective design. He includes tips on how to get your product noticed and change your label. Creating a Label: 6 Steps -> Step #1. Communicate with color Colors can communicate faster than words. They are important

Best graphic design software of 2019 graphic design Provided by Future Publishing Ltd. Affinity Designer Best graphic design software While there are a large number of graphics programs, built to allow you to create, develop, and manipulate graphical images, there is a smaller set of dedicated graphic design software packages.  A key distinction between graphics software and graphic design software is that the former needs to be able to work to a wider range of formats, not least for printing. This is especially a concern for the graphic design industry, where the images and designs used may need to be recreated in very large formats that require professional printing services. Therefore it's essential for the graphic design packages being used to be able to cope with clear distinctions and demands inherent to all levels of print and publishing processes. A key concern isn't just faithful representation of colors, but also ensuring image integrity even when blown up

The Golden Rules Of Software Development (Part 3 Of 3)

Businesses spent over a trillion dollars on enterprise software and IT services last year, with a healthy forecasted growth fueling an otherwise flat IT market. You might expect this investment would be producing better and better software, but every day you probably experience the reverse. Cryptic error messages, confusing flows and plain old software crashes seem as inevitable as death and taxes. But they don’t need to be. The difference between disappointment and software people love to use boils down to just five golden rules. In previous posts, I discussed the fundamentals of understanding your user and creating a consistent and performant experience. In this final post, we wrap up balancing the needs of the head (pragmatic security) with the heart (user delight).  Rule No. 4: Be Secure (Yet Practical) Data is digital, and digital data is vulnerable. Personal data, corporate secrets -- it’s all fair game for cybercriminals. It doesn’t matter how performant or user-cen

MLB Roundup: Pence's Inside-the-park HR Propels Rangers

Hunter Pence hit an inside-the-park home run, and the Texas Rangers defeated the host Boston Red Sox 9-5 on Tuesday night. With a runner on second in the sixth inning, Pence hit a high fly ball just inside the right field foul pole. Boston's Brock Holt lunged into the crowd in an effort to catch the ball, but it fell just over his glove. Holt thought the ball went into the stands for a home run, but it instead caromed off the base of the wall and trickled along the warning track toward the bullpens in right-center field. By the time center fielder Mookie Betts reached the ball, which had come to a stop, Pence had scampered around the bases to make it 9-3. Texas' Ariel Jurado (4-2) allowed three runs on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Xander Bogaerts and Betts homered for the Red Sox. Braves 7, Pirates 5 (8 innings) Brian McCann hit two home runs, one of them a tiebreaking, three-run shot that propelled Atlanta past visiting Pittsburgh. The game was ca

Mookie Betts worked a walk-off base on balls to carry the Boston Red Sox to a 4-3 win over the visiting Texas Rangers on Wednesday afternoon. Christian Vazquez opened the ninth with a ground-rule double, and Jackie Bradley Jr.'s single to shallow right moved pinch-runner Marco Hernandez to third. After a four-pitch walk to Michael Chavis, Betts coaxed a five-pitch walk off reliever Jesse Chavez (2-2), breaking the reliever's 22 2/3-inning scoreless streak. Andrew Benintendi finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs to help the Red Sox snap their three-game losing streak and win for just the second time in seven games on the current homestand. Rafael Devers had two hits and an RBI, Vazquez posted two hits, and reliever Matt Barnes (3-1) notched the win with a scoreless ninth. Elvis Andrus had two of Texas' five hits, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Hunter Pence drove in two runs. Texas starter Lance Lynn and Boston's Rick Porcello each
