On Thursday, the Tampa Bay Rays and St. Louis Cardinals agreed to a sizable trade. The Rays acquired outfielders Jose Martinez and Randy Arozarena as well as a draft pick in exchange for left-handed prospect Matthew Liberatore, and low-level catching prospect Edgardo Rodriguez, and a draft pick, the teams announced. Last Friday, he married his longtime partner Todd Gage at San Francisco City Hall, becoming the first known professional men’s sports executive to marry his same-sex partner. San Francisco Mayor London Breed pronounced Welts and Gage “spouses for life,” according to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Heather Knight, making the marriage official.
